The best flies to use in fishing for Smallmouth can be quite surprising. While they hold near an incoming stream nymphs work quite well. A Bitch Creek, Dragonfly nymph, or a large Hare’s Ear should bring strikes. Cast up current and let the weighted line bring the nymph down to the level where they feed.
